Tamika Tremaglio, the second woman to lead NBPA

  • Tamika to succeed Michel Roberts.

The National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) will have yet another woman to hold its reins. Tamika Tremaglio will succeed Michel Roberts who was the first woman to ever hold that position.

Tamika was associated with the NBPA for a long time as a consultant and has supported the union in the agreement practices and business. She was also instrumental in negotiating the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) for the Women’s National Basketball Association(WBNA). She was working with Deloitte, one of the largest accounting, consulting, and audit operations.

Responding to the new role, Tamika says “I have broken barriers, challenged misperceptions, and much like professional athletes, I have supported over the years, I have defied the odds.”

Expressing confidence in Tamika, Roberts who was also the first female to manage a professional sports league union in North America said “I’m looking forward to retirement, but take solace in knowing the NBPA is in extremely capable hands. Tamika will be an excellent Executive Director for the NBPA.”

Michel Roberts has served the position of NBPA Executive Director for two terms. And this time the association’s decision to hire a Woman- again- to run the union was not surprising as it was in 2014. Over the years, Roberts has proved how females are capable of roles assigned to men for ages.

NBPA has earlier revealed that the union is in search of a leader capable of taking it from where Roberts leaves.

“Tamika’s well-rounded experience in collective bargaining, staff management, revenue creation, wealth preservation, and culture building, undoubtedly will put our players in the best position to succeed,” NBPA President CJ McCollum pointed out.
